It's Been Too Long

Hi furiends. I'm so sorry that its been over 5 months since I last blogged. A lot has happened since then. My lady got a full time job, which leaves her less time in the day to help me blog. But she promised me that she would help me with this blog at least once a week.

Well November is one of my favorite months. Since I am adopted, my man and lady don't know when my real birthday is. So we celebrate it on November 1st. This year I celebrated my 11th birthday (we think). Yes, I'll admit, I'm a senior now. I eat senior dog food, but I haven't slowed down one bit. I still play with my toys, run, and jump (no arthritis here!).

November is also Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Throughout the month of November, rescue organizations and shelters from coast to coast are encouraging families to consider older pets when adding a new member of the family during Adopt a Senior Pet Month. I for one am glad my family adopted me 6 years ago.

Thats what my lady says life has been like this past month. And boy let me tell you, things have sure changed. My lady lost a job one day, and got another a couple days later. She works different hours now, but we are thankful that she has a job that makes her happy. At least thats what man says.

For now life at our house has been turned upside down!

Lilly gets to post on a Monday!

Hey everybody! Its me Lilly. I haven't gots to post in a while, cause my lady has started a new job and...well she's been lazy. Ok maybe not lazy, just busy with Winnie's hurt foot and a new job too.

I told you a few weeks back that I gots to go to my furiend Abby's birthday pawty! Let me tell you it was pawsome. We gots to eat cupcakes, and I gots to take home a treat bag. I had to share it with Winnie...but I ate most of the treats before I gots home BOL!

I brought Abby a present, but her sister Foley, (who is a big dog and I was a little scared of her, even though she just wanted to play with me, or so thats what they kept telling me) took the toy from Abby. But whatever I still had lots of fun, and so did the birthday girl!

On another note, since this is my post and Winnie can't post on my posts...Winnie wants me to tell all of you guys that her foot is better and she is back to running and playing as usual.

I hurt my toe!

Hi, its me Winnie. No cute pics of me today! My lady has been so very slack here lately. She hasn't helped me put up a new post in days, and Lilly is driving her crazy about putting up pictures of the pawty she went to. Any way, I wanted to let everyone know that I hurt my foot...well my toe. They think it is broken. I won't put any weight on it at all. My lady took me to the vet, and they ruled out my hip and pretty much my knee. I'm on some pretty pawsome pain meds that make me sleepy. Oh and I can't jump on anything, but I can...they just won't let me.

I got to sleep in the bed with my lady too, she said sick doggies get to sleep with her. Pretty cool huh? Keep your paws crossed that my toe gets better soon...otherwise I will need to go back to the V.E.T. and I don't want to go back there!

I'm back. I took a month off to recover from my dental surgery. I feel better, and I'm off all the meds they gave me. I want all my furiends to know, Lilly got that chicken bone out of the trash can, and lady and man know she did it. I was so mad at her for letting me take the heat on that one. You see we were supposed to be working together, her getting the bones out, me eating them. She totally blew it!

And speaking of Lilly, she is all running around here today talking about a birthday party she is going to. I asked her what party. Apparently she has been invited to her friends Abby and Lucy's house, for Abby's 1st birthday. I am going to stay home for this one...a bunch of young pups running around, barking and playing doesn't sound too fun to me. When you get to be my age, you stop counting the years, and just ask for the presents! I'm sure that Lilly will be on here tomorrow telling you all about the party.

On that note, I think its time to do toy inventory!

So Much to Say

Hey furiends...its me Lilly and I wanted to post today. Its been a while since me or Winnie wrote about what we are doing, but let me tell you so much has been going on. Winnie ate a bone last night, and lady got really scared and made her choke up, but then lady said Winnie didn't eat that bone...only crunched it. Then the peoples were wondering who gots the bone out of the trash can, cause Winnie is like so short and I am like tall, but I didn't tell them I did it. Then Winnie was really mad at lady for making her choke up and wouldn't go sit with her in the comfy chair...but thats ok I gots to sit with lady.

Last weekend I gots to go to the doggie park and meet a couple of my doggie furiends Abby and Lucy there. We had lots of fun! Winnie had to stay home cause lady says she has A-gory-fobia, I think that means she wants to stay home alot. Here are me and Abby and Lucy checkin things out at the park:

Not so wordless Wednesday

Ok...so yesterday I was at the vet again. I had my teeth worked on. Let me tell you, my mouth was a mess. I have my teeth cleaned every year. Doxies have bad teeth (so I've been told). Several teeth had to come out. This surprised my lady very much, cause I didn't have to have any teeth pulled last year. No surprise to me though.

I came through the surgery great, but still feel a little down. It's good to feel like this sometimes, cause that means I get all the attention, and Lilly gets none BOL!

My teeth

So I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. You see, I broke a tooth last night while playing with my toys. My lady said "call the emergency clinic!" She gets upset over the smallest things. They made an appointment for me this morning to check out my tooth. Lady said that my teeth are past due to be cleaned. As a dauschund mix, I don't have the greatest teeth in the world.

So off to the vet I go! My man took me, and they told him that I need more than one tooth pulled! OMD! Anyway, I will have to stay at the vets office all morning to get my teeth worked on. Please keep your paws crossed for me!

Update:

I stayed at the emergency vets office all morning, and they didn't do anything with my teeth at all. They put me on an antibotic and pain meds (more treats for me YAY!) Then they told lady how much it would cost to fix my teeth. My lady about fainted!

So my lady called another vet, and begged them to see me today, and they did (great another vet!) They said they could do my teeth work for a little less monies. Lady said good!

So I go back on Tuesday to get my teeth worked on. The vet tech said I would have a clean slate...what is a clean slate? Does that mean like fresh breath or something?

Lillyday on Saturday!

Hey all my furiends. It's me Lilly, and I get to post on a Saturday. Can you believe it?
Winnie doesn't know...so please don't tell her. She is in the other room taking "inventory" of all her toys.

So last night the lady and man had some people over for dinner. These were the nicest peoples that I have meet in a while. The guest lady said I could call her momma! Can you believe it? She said that I was the nicerest puppy, and I could go home with her anytime I wanted to. She called me "sugar mama". I don't know what that means, but I liked it a lot.

She held me and petted me till I fell asleep in her arms. What a nice lady she was! Winnie didn't much like them. She went to sleep on her pillow. I guess she was jealous of all the attentshun that I was getting.

Easter and a Memory of a Good Friend

It was one year ago that my man and lady had to take my good friend Bijou to the vet. She was very sick, and they had to help her cross over to the bridge. I know that there is a very big hole in my man's heart that no dog will be able to fill. I try my best, and I know that I have helped him heal, but when you lose your best firend the memory of them will never go away. It is on this day that I would like to remember Bijou. We still miss you Bijou!

So as not to end on a sad note, I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. Lilly went looking for Easter eggs this morning. All she found was the brown ones, and she didn't share any!

Hey to all my furiends! I hope sping has come where you are. It certainly has here. My lady, man and the boys are sniffling and sneezing all the time! They say its because of all the pollen in the air. I'm not sneezing! I love to go outside and smell all the flowers, and lay in the sun. Here are some pics of what it looks like now at our house:

Hey everybody in blogland.

It's me Lilly and that can only mean on thing its (drum roll please)

LILLYDAY!!!!

Not much has been going on here this week. We did puppy sit for our cousin.

His name is Gunny. Thats me and him taking a walk.

I was teaching him how to walk properly without pulling on the leash, and to stay right by the lady.

What's that up there? A squirrel? Let me go get it lady.

If I pull hard enough on this leash maybe I can break free to catch that rodent.

Oh well...what was I saying to you Gunny. This is how you walk with people.

You don't pull on the leash and walk right beside them. That's how to be a good doggie.

You don't let things distract you when you go for walks.

When we get home, I'll show you where Winnie keeps all the cool squeaky toys.

An Embarrassing Story

I am so embarrassed today I don’t even want to look at the camera.

Maybe if I tell you my story I might feel better. Ok so here goes nothing. I was playing with my most favoritest rubber ball, I call my woobie. I was having fun running down the hall to catch it, and bringing back to lady. All of a sudden my lady looked down and there was poop on the floor! OMD I was so embarrassed, I ran to the cave of wonders to hide.

My lady wasn’t too mad, she said she was laughing too hard to be mad. She said she saw the poop just fly out of my butt! When I get scared, like if a burglar comes to the house, I have been known to poop in self defense, but never while I'm playing with my toys. I can’t believe I’m telling you this.

You know, it doesn’t make me feel better. I think I’ll just go back to my cave of wonders and hide again

A Blizzard in the Deep South!!

It's snowing here in the deep South! We are expected to get about 3-5 inches tonight. Me and Lilly don't really like the snow. Lilly just sat by the door wanting to be let back inside. She was freezing. Lady "forgot" to put on our sweaters.

Then Lady and Man threw my new toy out in the snow to see if I would go get it. Of course I will go and get my toy. Who would be crazy enough to leave their new toy in the snow! People do the craziest things don't they?

This afternoon when Lady came home we went for a walk! How cool is that? It was a nice 65 outside today.

Then since Lady has a new camera, she decided to play with her new toy as she calls it. It doesn't look like any toy I'd want to play with....what with that flashy thingy and all.

Ok Lady, the flash is hurting my eyes now. I know I'm cute and all, but go take some of Lilly.

Lilly says that the black side is her "bad" side. The side of her that does bad things like: pee on the floor, eat poops in the yard, and play with my toys!

The white side is her "good" side. She doesn't use that side of her much!

Ha, ha....very funny Winnie!

Why does Lilly have to mess with my toys? I don't play with her stuffie toys. If she would just put them back where they belong, it wouldn't be so bad...but she just leaves them lying all around the living room.

It is a M&M nutcracker. It opens it's mouth and out comes M&M candies. What dog would be scared of something that spits out food???

Not much going on around here today. Just taking it easy, sitting in the sun, and playing with my toys. Its too cold to go outside here right now. My lady wants it to snow, but we live in the south...so no snow for us!

People Vet and New Toys

Ok...so back to me (Winnie) posting. After all this is my blog. It was because of ME that this blog was created.

Not much going on around here to speak of, other than my man went to the people vet today. I think they call it the docktor...or something like that. The people vet told man that he has something called bron-kides. I never heard of that before, but he coughes like he has kennel cough. He came home with a couple of yucky medicines. My lady will hide them in his food to make sure that he takes them all. She does that for me when I'm sick. I hope its not contagious!

Oh I did get a new toy yesterday. I love getting new squeaky toys! They are my favorites. I have a name for almost all of them. My new one is called Uni (oo-nee).

It's called uni because it looks like a sea urchin. Uni is japanese for sea urchin. My man is very good at coming up with new names for my toys!

Hi everybody! Its me Lilly. Can you see me? Don't I look soo cute and sweet! Anyways, I thought I would take Mondays, and call them Lilly days instead. Winnie said I could post on her blog. Actually Lady told Winnie that she would have to let me post at least once a week. Cool right?

I thought I would show you dogs a few of my favorite places to be in the house and a few a my most favoritest toys in the whole world. Here I am on the couch, one of my most favoritest palces to be with my nylabone. I love a good nylabone!

Here I am on the couch again, notice all the blankies, they are my favoritest things too! Can you see me with my new toy, sail kitty. I call him that cause he's flat and sails like a frisbee!

Here I am at the place Lady puts all my toys when I get them all out. Why she has to pick them up, I don't know...I just get them all out again!

Happy New Year to all of our friends. This is me Lilly. Look at what I got for Christmas this year:

Can you see me? Yep I got pajamas. They are the bestest pjs in the whole world. They keep me snugie and warm! I can play and don't have to stay covered up all day to keep warm.

I love my pjs...I love wearing all kinds of clothes like sweaters, and tee shirts. But most of all I love my pjs! Oh no! Here comes Winnie....

OMD! I am sooo sorry that Lilly got a hold of my blog. I don't even know where she found my password! Sorry about that peoples. Anyway here are my new year resloutions:
1. Be nicer to my sister Lilly
2. Share my toys (not gonna happen, Lady made me put this one in)
3. Go on more walks
4. Let Lilly post once a week on my blog. (Must give this one more thought)

It's quiet now after Christmas....all except the boys playing on their game thingy. So for some R&R me and Lilly found the best place in the house...our sun room. On sunny days, even when its chilly outside, it will be warm in here. This is where Lady caught us this afternoon.

Our Christams Eve Bath

So we were just sitting around on Christmas Eve waiting on Santa Paws to come bring us our new toys. When all of a sudden my Lady says Lilly smells like she ate poo! Well as quick as a wink, Lilly was in the sink getting the dreaded b-a-t-h! Yes peoples she got a bath on Christmas Eve of all times. I thought this was supposed to be a time of peace on earth good will towards your fellow dogs. Not my Lady, ohhh no we have to have a bath!

Here is Lilly. I must say she did deserve this bath. She did stink!

So my man has been out of work since April 2009. It was fun having him home all day with us. Me and Lilly got to sleep in the bed after my lady went to work. He even let us stay in the bed while he worked on the computer to find another job.

Just want to say to my manners...miss you! But I'm glad you are working again. And I'm glad that when you come home, me and Lilly get to do the happy dance for you.

So like I said it's raining here all day today, and it's cold...so me and Lilly don't want to go outside. Lady tells us to "go wet" and we say..."hey lady! it's wet out here already!"

My name is Winnie. This was the name given to me by the Birmingham Animal Control. Yes people, at one time I was a pound puppy. I was picked up as a stray by the Animal cops of Birmingham, AL. I was scared, skinny, and very much alone.

There was one nice lady there...and she took me to a radio station in Birmingham. The radio station was The Bull and my man worked there for the morning show. The animal control would bring dogs to the show once a week and most of those lucky dogs got adopted.

My man says when I came in I "walked on my side". He said I was the most pityfullest thing he had ever saw. I was trying to be submissive. I was so skinny that I could lay my head on the floor and walk my hind end at the same time.

My man talked to my lady and they called animal control and put me on hold. You see, I had been there for about two weeks and no one came to claim me. That means I was on death row. So my man and lady came to visit me with their dog Bijou. They had to make sure that I got along with her, or they couldn't take me home.

Me and Bijou got along well. She helped me learn the ropes of living in a house. My lady thinks that I must have been living outside all my life because I was so scared of everything in the house. Did I mention that I was skinny too. I am told that you could see all my bones. I had to be feed puppy food for a few months.

About 3 years ago, my lady, man, and their two boys packed up our stuff and moved us to South Carolina. That's where we live now. I don't like change. Some change is good, and others are not so good. One not so good change is that Bijou went to the Rainbow Bridge last April. I still miss her. That's why we have Lilly now. I am told that she is a good change...whatever people!

Lilly is a resuce dog just like me, but she was not a pound puppy like I was. I am now the "big sister" and I have to teach her the ropes, like no peeing in the house, and no touching my cuz toys! She is learning...although very slowly.

I live the good life and I know it. I have a good family, lots of toys, and my lady cooks my food for me...what more could a dog ask for in life?

Happy (Belated) Turkey Day!

I am sure most of you had a great Thanksgiving. I read some of my friends blogs and it looks like they got some smashed potatoes, and some turkey from their owners. Yay! I had a great turkey day too! We had the grandmothers over, and one of them is real cool about giving me and Lilly tidbits from her plate. We also had an unexpected guest over, and he gave us the biggest piece of turkey I have ever seen! LOVE you Uncle Bob!

My lady has been really lazy about keeping up my blog with me. She said it was because she had lots to do at work...yeah right lady. Any way, I have decided that my next blog will be all about me and how I came to live with my current family. This blog is about second hand dogs, and that means I am a rescue dog. So, more to come about my background, or what my lady thinks she knows about my background.

I got mail today! I have never gotten mail before in my life. It was from my friend Tibby. She had a bloggiversary drawing, and my name was picked. My man brought the mail in, and let me open the package. I was soo very excited.

I got a great collar that Tibby's mom makes all by herself. You get to pick out your favorite color and everything. Check it out here at Scruffy Dog Collars. Tibby also sent me some really yummy chew sticks and a stuffy to play with (it squeaks too, I love it!) Thanks Tibby!

On to a more serious note, my sister Lilly has not been feeling well lately. She says she might have come down with pig flu. I think she might have been watching too many news stories on the tee vee thing that my lady stares at. What do you think?

Lilly's Nap

My sister Lilly will nap anywhere. Her favorite spots are under the couch pillows, under the blankets on the bed, and in my Lady's lap. While we were outside the other day, Lilly got tired of guarding the back yard from intruders. She told me that she was just gonna take a quick 5 minute nap. Today I thought that maybe I should start thinking about what I should be for Halloween. First I put on the pirate hat. Argh! Pretty cool and the dred locks just add a certain je ne sais quoi don't you think?

Lilly just had to try it on too, so lady let her. I think I really rocked the priate hat myself. Lilly just looks scared.

Of course Otis dummy was here and he just had to have a turn too. You know what, I think he looked the best in the hat. So me and my lady told him he could be the priate for Halloween. Thanks Winnie buddy, Otis said.

Next Lilly put on the witches hat, but that scared her too. So my lady told her that she could just wear the Halloween tee shirt we got. Yay! said Lilly. Lilly loves, I mean loves to wear tee shirts!

That means that I get to be the witch this year. The question is, will I be a good wich or a bad witch?

Food Wonderful Food

My lady is on a health food kick these days. She bought a book called Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. She loves this book. It has recipes in it as well as how to give your dog a check up (maybe that means no more vet YAY!) and different herbs you can give dogs and cats.

She made us some cooked chicken, with green beans and oatmeal. Yummy!!!! She has also been giving us some carrots and pineapples, also very yummy!

As you can see Lilly and I both love our new diet. I hope she does this forever, she's a great chef!

Birthdays and Parades

I want to apologize for not posting any this week. This week was full of Birthday celebrations! First of all I want to give a shout out to my main Man! His birthday was Oct. 11th. I think that we are the same age. I know we are not old.

My second shout out goes to my Lady. She celebrated her birthday on Oct. 13th. I think she must be really old! BOL Just kidding, NOT!

And last but not least, I want to give a shout out to my little boy Jeremy! He turned 13 on Oct. 14th. Happy Birthday to all of you.

Look at that pawsome ice cream pie Jeremy had. I heard it was pumpkin cheesecake! Maybe I will lick their plates when they leave them on the table, shhhh don't tell my lady.

They all went to eat at a Japanese Steak House. That fire looks dangerous to me, I'm glad they left me at home. They did bring me back a few small pieces of chicken. It was yummy. Lilly got some too!

So I don't leave my favorite napping buddy out, I want to give a shout out to Jacob. You were pawsome in the parade on Sunday. Here I am laying in the cool grass, waiting for Jacob to come down the street. See how cute I look here:

It's all Greek to me!

Yesterday was sooo hot here in South Carolina! It got up to almost 90 degrees, and its October. Look at how mean my lady is, she left me outside in the heat. See, I'm jumping on the door trying to tell her to let me back in the cool house before I roast!

After she finally let me back in the house, the man decided he wanted to go downtown to the Greek Festival. So they went and had some yummy Greek chicken, and some pastitsio which is a type of Greek pasta dish. Then they had some baklava which is a flaky pastry filled with nuts and honey. Notice there was no chocolate, I can't have that. Do you think they brought me back some yummy chicken or some of that yummy baklava? Not a chance.

Well, maybe today I can guilt them into taking me to Petsmart to buy me a new squeaky cuz toy. Cuz you can't have enough cuz!

We woke up this morning and it was raining and cold outside. Well not real cold, but us Southeren gals don't like it very much when it gets below 70 outside. I was shivering when my lady came home from work. She doesn't want to turn the heater on yet, so she busted out our shirts.

Boring weekend

All we've been doing around here this weekend is lying around, lying around, and more lying around. It was nice and cool this weekend so the people went out....what about us!!!!???!!! We like to get out every once in a while too. I think I've got cabin fever, and yes Lilly it's contagious!

Can any of you dogs out there tell me how do you get your humans to take you out with them on a weekend. I would like to go to Petsmart or Petco...it doesn't matter, or maybe just a nice walk down the street for pete's sake. Let me know will ya, my humans never take me anywhere!

My lady was upset yesterday. I had to go back to the vet because my butt hurts again. The vet put me on two more meds and said if that didn't work I would have to get a biopsy of it. I don't know what a biopsy is, but coming from the vet it can't be good. Please keep your paws crossed that this treatment works!

I was hiding in my Cave of Wonders today (that's what I call my special hiding place under the big bed) I like to hide some toys in my Cave of Wonders in case my lady picks up all my toys. You see, she picks them all up so I can't play with them. If I hide one or two in my Cave of Wonders, I always have some squeaky toys to play with. I can even steal some of Lilly's toys and hide them in my Cave too! Can you see me in this pic?

Hey Buddy

So it's Sunday afternoon and I'm tryin to take a nap, and I hear "Psssst, Hey Winnie Buddy...Winnie Buddy...watcha doin?" This is how Otis dummy talks...he calls everyone he knows Buddy. So I told him to go away and leave me alone, and let me finish my nap.

So he says "I will wait right here on the step for you Winnie Buddy...do you know where Lilly Buddy is?"

I tell him she is in the bed trying to take a nap too. Apparently Lilly can sleep through anything like blankets being pulled off of her, and a bright light in her face...even Otis being a pest.

Lilly's Teeth

If you have a sensitive stomach you may not want to see these pics! OK so I warned you! My sister Lilly has really small teeth. I asked her how she can even eat with teeth so small. I know that Boston Terriers have a "bull dog bite" but I didn't know that their teeth would be so small. You can't even see her top teeth in this pic, I assure you she does have them.

Just for a size comparison I took this pic with a dime. The L in Liberty is bigger than her teeth. And take a look at those canines, I'm really afraid now! Gotta run for now, lots of toys to play with!

So Much To Say

What up peoples! It's been too long since my lady helped me update my blog. She said she was sick, but she is just being lazy! I told you in my last blog that my butt was hurt. Well I feel 100% better now, but I still have a few days of medicine to take. My lady was very worried about me. That helped me get more attention from lady than Lilly did!

Our house guest Prissy went home, which was good. She peeed and pooped everywhere. One good thing about Prissy though, she growled at Otis. If you don't know, my lady keeps a pug named Otis every other week because his mom works at night and he can't be alone.

Let me tell you he is a dummy. That's one of his nicknames Otis Dummy aka Odors. I have tried to get some Oust cause it claims to eliminates odors, but my lady said that is a different kind of odors, not Otis. Oh well worth a shot.

I am sure that I will have more to say tomorrow, so for now Peace Out Peoples!

What's up with my butt?

This morning the lady had to take me to the vet because somethings wrong with my butt. The vet tech thought that it might be my anal gland, and said that my lady had to leave me there so they could clean it out. My lady didn't think thats what it was, but she's not a vet. Any way when my lady and man came to pick me up, the vet told them that she had never seen anything like this before. The vet said that maybe I got into some ants or something, because I had small blister like things on my butt. Let me tell you it hurts. So I have some medicine that should make me feel better, three kinds of medicine. My lady is worried about me, so I get all the attention now, not Lilly! I'm gonna go take a nap now. We Don't Run a Bed and Breakfast

So today I was outside doing my usual business, and when I came back in there was a new dog in the house. OMG! We just brought Lilly home and now my lady has let a new dog come and live with us. I was disgusted with the whole idea!

Lilly was like "What new dog? Where?" and I was like over there Lilly just turn around and see for yourself. My lady has gone and bought a new dog, now I have to show another dog just who is boss around here.

Then my lady was like, this is Prissy. She will be staying here for a week while her mom and dad are at the beach.

The last time my lady said somedog was only going to stay a week was Otis the pug (aka Dummy or Odors), and he comes every other week. All I got to say is this is no Doggie Bed and Breakfast lady, this is my house that I have to live in every day. Please quit bringing home strange dogs.

My lady hasn't helped me with this blog in a few days (I really need to learn how to type!) so I finally got her to post a new one today. Lilly is making messes everywhere. She keeps throwing up, and has made two stains on the floor! She has even made a mess on the couch. I couldn't believe it! I mean just get on the foor will ya? So I said to my lady, "Why don't you return her before her warranty is up?" And you know what she said to me? She said how could I send someone back with a face like this:

Training Lilly

I have told you before that I'm a good watch dog. I will lie on the arm of our couch and look out the window for any intruders. I will bark like mad if I think that my territroy is being invaded.

The other day I was keeping my usual post, when I saw the mailman. I sent out an alarm bark. As you know, I am not the only dog in the house any more. It is common knowledge that when the alpha dog sends out the alarm, the other dogs should back her up. Do you see Lilly in the picture? No. So I go up to her and tell her "When I bark like that, you need cover my back."

Yesterday the mailman came again. Whats up with him anyway? I bark at him everyday, then he gets scared off for one day, and he's back again. Ok, so I saw that mailman again, and sent out the alarm, I look over and there is Lilly right behind me. She almost knocked me off the couch. I told her, you don't literally have to cover my back, let's just say you back me up ok? Right she said.

A few minutes later, I saw someone walking down the street. I sent out another alarm. Lilly came and looked out the window with me. She didn't knock me off the couch, and she backed me up. Maybe having another dog in the house won't be as bad as I thought. She might come in handy one day.

Introducing Lilly

Ok, so this past weekend was a holiday for my lady. She got to stay home with me for 3 days in a row! It would have been fun, but she woke me up on Saturday, and told me that we were picking up my little sister. We drove and drove for what seemed like hours (it was 2 hours) and met Lilly. Me and Lilly just ignored each other, so my lady said that was a good sign (little does she know).

So we have just be lying around the house getting to know Lilly. She doesn't do much but sit in my lady's lap. Thats about it. Lady said that Lilly is just very shy and she will come around once she gets to know us. It's all good with me, cause that way she won't play with my toys!

The pic is of me, my lady, and Lilly at the Varsity in Athens (I'm the cute puppy smiling at the camera). The man and lady ate a hot dog and french fries, and didn't give any to us. They are both mean that way. Gotta go for now, peace out peoples!

I've Been Robbed

Something tragic happened to me, and I want to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! So yesterday I played with my toys as usual. I like to lie on my back and hold my toys, it's fun that way.

When I got tired of playing with them, I went to lie down with Lady and I left all my toys out. I was taking inventory of them so I know how many I have when the new dog gets here. See all of my favorite toys out in the floor?

I was lying on the bed with my lady when I heard a noise! I barked and growled, because the voice I heard was that of the notorious Burglar!! He broke into our house a few years ago. Man and Lady said it was to let me and Bijou out cause they were out of town, but I still don't trust the guy.

When I went into the living room all my toys were gone! What am I supposed to think, I mean the guy is not trustworthy! Gone, all of my toys gone!

Here is a pic of the alleged toy grabber, just look how scary he is! Look at those shifty eyes! So I am putting out an APD on this guy, if you see him be warned he is soooo scary he will make you poop! What's that you say Man? What do you mean you cleaned up my toys? Check my toy box, I didn't know I had a toy box.

Well looks like they are all there, but you just can't trust people now a days!

A warning to you burglar: Winnie will be on the look out, 24 hours a day 7 days a week! (except when I'm playing, eating, or napping!)

A note from Winnie's lady: the "Burglar" is Dale and he is a good family friend. He came by to drop off something he borrowed from us. He has tried to make friends with Winnie, but she has never forgiven him for scaring her the time he came to dog sit for us.

Getting Ready

So the lady told me that Saturday is the day they will probably bring home this new dog. I think I may have heard the boys saying that we will call her Luna. I might just call her Looney Luna! That would be so funny! Anyway, there is a lot for me to do to get ready for a new dog in the house. First I need to make sure that both the beds have my scent on them so she will know they are mine. Next, I need to make sure I eat out of both the food bowls, so she will know that they are mine. And finally, and this is MOST important, I need to hide all of my toys! So where to put all of them? I know, my secret hidding place...The Cave of Wonders! Gotta go! Lots of toys to move before Saturday. Peace out peoples!

Wednesday's Woes

Whew! I'm better now that I've composed myself. So I was telling you about my new bed, and bam, lady tells me that the new bed is for a new boston terrier. Why are we getting a new dog when I'm all the dog anyone needs. Just look how cute I am.

They tell me that we are going to Athens to visit the new dog to see if I can get along with her. Maybe I'll do my sweet growl, you know be nice nasty to her. Maybe she won't like me, OMG! How could anyone not like me? I'm sweet, and cute, and I know how to share my toys (just because I don't share does not mean I don't know how to share). I've been so concerned about me not liking her, I completely forgot she might not like me. Time to compose myself again with some little play: "Squeak, squeak...yes die you little!"

Remember I told you that the fam went out on Saturday and brought me back some toys? Well I forgot to mention that they also brought me back a new bed. Now I have two....Yay me! I'm so special I have two beds, and I get to sleep in the big bed with lady!

Saturdays and New Toys!

I just love Saturdays! Today the Lady went out with Man and the boys so they could buy me some new squeaky toys. I love squeaky toys! She bought me a hot dog and a chicken leg. So they're not real, but it's fun to pretend!

Here me and Otis Dummy are waiting on the Lady to give me, not him the toys. If he thinks I'm gonna let him play with these new toys he's crazy! He doesn't know how to work them. Just look how dumb he looks, sitting there breathing loud and everything!
OK, so Lady did give him the hot dog, but he will not have it for long, I can promise you that. Look at how he's handling that toy. No common sense at all!

This is me with my chicken leg, right before I attacked Otis Dummy. Lady really got mad at me for that. But guess what, I ended up with both toys when they put Otis Dummy to bed.

Pick up line

OK, so yesterday my Lady told me that we had to go to the pick up line. Don't know what that is but it means that I get to go in the car on a mission. That's me looking at all the cars behind us. For those of you who don't know me, I am a trained guard dog. That means if someone or something were to come at the car, I would bark, probably poop, then hide behind Lady or Man.

Anyway, so here we are still waiting, see the cars behind us? That's me in the car mirror, Man was trying to be artistic, that's what my Lady said. Cool pic though.

So we wait, and wait, then the cars start moving again. Finally we get Jeremy from school (whatever that is) and go home. I like home, nothing can get ya there! Well maybe Burglar, he scares me! (that's a scarey story for another day!)

Hi, My Name is Winnie

Hi! I'm Winnie and I'm gonna take over this blog. The Lady does not do me justice! I mean come on I have a life right?
This is me at the dog park. I'm lookin good. This is one of my favorite pictures. I had a great time at the dog park, that is if Otis Dummy hadn't been there. That's what I call him, Otis Dummy cause he's so dumb.

There he is, just standing there lookin dumb as usual! Whats he lookin at? I don't know.

So here I am with one of my favorite persons. I love it when Jacob gets on his stomach. I call this game "Highest Point" Basically you just climb up on his butt, then play littles, or wobbie on top of him. Makes me feel like I'm queen of the Mountain!

So that's a little about me. Now if I can just convince the Lady that she does not need to adopt this dog she keeps talkin about. More about that later. Peace out peoples!

My Smart Dog

Winnie is a smart dog. Some might disagree on that point with me, but to me she is smart. I can ask her to go get a certain toy, and in a few minutes she will bring me the right one. She has lots of toys. She loves balls, cuz (they are balls with feet that squeak), and several different squeaky toys. Each one has a name. I can say "Winnie go get Bobo!" and she will bring me the long blue doggie that squeaks.

Winnie likes to play with these toys on her back. I have never seen another dog do this. She will lie on her back and hold her toys with her "hands" and look at them.

Here is Winnie with one of her favorite toys Orange Julius. She is deciding if it is worth it to get back up and grab Julius or not!

Its a lot of work being cute, but Winnie is up to the challenge!

Its A Dogs Life!

My dog Winnie loves to play with her toys. She will tug them, chase them, and squeak them. With all that work, a doggie gets tired. And what is a dog to do when they get tired? Nap of course!

Winnie likes to take naps. She will nap anywhere you are. If you are in the bed, Winnie snuggles down beside you. If you take a nap on the couch Winnie is right there at the end with you. Here is a pic of Winnie taking a nap on a Sunday afternoon.

Notice how she makes sure that she is comfotable. Her comfort far outweighs any comfortable position you may want to get in. Although, she does look sweet when she is sleeping!

So I got the call I have been waiting for all week. I got the call from the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina (BTRNC). I talked to the adoption coordinator there and the phone interview went very well. She seems to think that our home would be a good place for a BT to live. I hope so.

I am getting really excited now, the process is moving. You see I am not a very patient person. I want to see some action! I was having a hard time waiting; I checked my email 2 or 3 times a day, had my cell with me at all times just in case and checked the BTRNC website to see if the dog I wanted had been adopted. Well you know what, she called right when we were out shopping for school supplies; so I let the call go to voice mail. Robb made me wait until I got home to call her back, the drive home took forever!

So now we are waiting on step two, but I think this time the wait will not seem so long. I'm just imagining all those bostie kisses, all the cuddles on the couch, and all the rope tugs this baby will want to play with! Oh! Will they just hurry up and call already!

We are in the process of adopting a dog. Why you may ask? I don't know. Only that I saw her picture online through a Boston terrier rescue group and knew that I wanted her to share our home with us.

Let me introduce myself. I am a wife to my husband, mother to my two sons, and slave to my dog. Our current dog Winnie was a rescue dog too. She is a dachshund mix. Cute when she wants to be, very playful, and very protective of her toys (and she has lots of them). To describe Winnie in one word, I would say she is eccecntric.

Ok, so I started this blog, Secondhand Dogs, to write about the ins and outs, my daily laughs and struggles with my dog. So now we are waiting. Waiting on another puppy to love on. To give hugs to. To play with, and in return, get back 110% of what we give her.
